Château Montifaud

La Maison Montifaud, located in the heart of the Cognac region of France, is a renowned distillery that embodies excellence in the production of Cognac.

Founded in 1837 by Augustin Vallet, this house of Cognacs is today run by the sixth generation of the Vallet family, a testament to the family's ongoing commitment to tradition and craftsmanship.

The Vallet family history dates back over 180 years, when Augustin Vallet established the Montifaud distillery. Since then, the Vallet family have dedicated their lives to producing exceptional Cognacs, passing on their expertise from generation to generation. This family continuity is an essential part of the Montifaud philosophy, where each family member is committed to pRéserver the heritage while seeking to innovate and constantly improve the quality of their Cognacs.

Montifaud's Domaine viticultural estate is vast, spanning hectares of well-tended vineyards in the Petite Champagne region, one of Cognac's most prestigious crus. The limestone and clay soils of Petite Champagne bring a unique complexity and aromatic richness to the grapes that form the basis of Cognacs Montifaud. This considerable Domaine size enables Montifaud to grow its own vines, closely monitor every stage of production and guarantee the exceptional quality of its eaux-de-vie.

Description Château de Montifaud 2004.

Château de Montifaud 2004 is a demonstration of Maison Vallet's expertise in producing exceptional cognacs. This limited and vintage edition is part of the "Les Grandes Années" collection, which features exclusively cognacs produced in the highest quality years. 2004, in this case, was marked by favorable weather conditions and a high-quality harvest. This vintage is also a tribute to the union of Laurent and Elodie Vallet, the sixth generation of the Domaine, who continue the art of distillation with brio.

To the eye, this Cognac has a brilliant golden color, the result of prolonged aging in French Limousin oak barrels.

The nose is delicate and refined, revealing subtle notes of dried flowers, candied apricots and licorice. These elegant aromas are the result of controlled fermentation, followed by slow artisanal distillation on the lees, during which each cut is tasted before being blended to guarantee the highest final quality.

On the palate, Château de Montifaud 2004 boasts a pleasant texture and remarkable roundness. The wood is perfectly integrated, offering a harmonious experience. Candied fruit and licorice flavors meld delicately, creating exceptional length on the palate. A pleasant rancio subtly completes the finish, adding a touch of complexity and depth.

The sustainable viticulture of the vineyard and the limestone soil typical of Petite Champagne bring a unique finesse and complexity to this Cognac, which lends itself ideally to contemplative tasting or in association with dried fruits or dark chocolate, capable of enhancing its complex aromas and refined structure.
