Audry

A name from the past and that of an old family almost always linked to the history of Cognac, some of whose roots lie in Saintes.

Founded in 1878 by Auguste Edmond Audry in Cognac, Maison Audry produces Cognacs of incomparable quality, appreciated by connoisseurs the world over. With a heritage rich in know-how, the company has distinguished itself through its mastery of double Charentaise distillation and the meticulousness of its blends, building a reputation that today extends beyond borders.

In 1905, the second generation of the Audry family set up their own winery and laboratory to support the company's development. Henri, the founder's grandson, navigated the troubled waters of the interwar years and the second World War, during which the town of Cognac was in an occupied zone. When he died in 1955, the precious Réserve of eaux-de-vie were left to rest until his son Bernard relaunched the house in 1984, awakening a collection that had become an exceptional treasure in almost 30 years. Accompanied by his wife Michelle, Bernard Audry brings the aromatic complexity of the house's Cognacs to the finest tables of France and beyond. The precision of the blends and the quality of the Cognacs seduce the most demanding sommeliers, making... See more ...

Description Audry Collection 78.

The latest creation from Maison Audry, ''Audry Collection 78'' is the purest expression of the savoir-faire perpetuated by the house since its creation in 1878. It is a very old Grande Champagne Millésimée 1978 eau-de-vie, bottled in Brut casks at 49.4%, making it a "single cask" of infinite aromatic complexity.

This limited edition is made up of 288 numbered decanters, topped by an astonishing hand-crafted, bespoke ceramic cap.

To the eye, this Cognac is distinguished by an amber color with acacia highlights, a sign of its prolonged aging. The first nose reveals greedy notes of candied fruits, apricots and figs. On aeration, subtle notes of stewed mango and ripe apples emerge, followed by pastry aromas of custard and orange blossom. Gradually, the nose takes on notes of fresh wood and cigar box, completing this initial olfactory journey.

On the palate, the whole reveals a silky texture and remarkable length. Light tannins balance a dominance of ripe fruit, providing a naturally sweet roundness and exquisite softness. Although the finish is slightly toasted and Cognac has a light rancio, it retains exceptional freshness and vivacity, a sign of its quality and terroir of origin.
