Hugues Godmé

The house of Champagne Hugues Godmé is a renowned family Champagne producer, renowned for the exceptional quality of its cuvées. Founded by Hugues Godmé himself, the house perpetuates a centuries-old winemaking tradition and showcases the unique terroir of the Champagne region.

The Godmé family history goes back several generations, when Hugues Godmé's grandfather began cultivating vines in the Verzenay region, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Hugues Godmé then took over the reins of the family business and set about developing a vision of Champagne production based on excellence and the preservation of traditional values.

The vineyards cover almost 14 hectares, mainly located in the grand crus of Verzenay, Verzy and Villers-Marmery. These terroirs, characterized by limestone and clay soils, offer ideal conditions for growing Champagne grape varieties, notably Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

The Hugues Godmé estate attaches great importance to sustainable, environmentally-friendly viticulture. The vines are grown using responsible agricultural practices, with particular attention paid to biodiversity and soil health. Harvesting is carried out by hand to ensure careful selection of the ripest, healthiest bunches, preserving the pure expression of terroir.

Description Hugues Godmé Montagne Nord.

The Domaine from Hugues Godmé, 40 parcels of vines monitored biodynamically with organic certification, are spread over 4 villages of Montagne de Reims, Verzenay, Verzy, Villers-Marmery and Villedommange.

The Montagne Nord cuvée (the former Fins Bois) is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay exclusively from Grands Crus Verzy and Verzenay. Part of the wine (40%) is vinified in oak barrels, and after 6 months on lees, the wines are aged on laths for at least 36 months. No dosage is carried out, so this Champagne is a Brut nature.

This is a fantastic cuvée, complex and intense. This Montagne Nord cuvée sports a beautiful sparkling golden yellow color. The nose is powerful yet elegant, gourmand, with notes of toast and baked apples. The palate is round, on fresh walnuts and almonds, and marked by minerality, oyster shell, which overflows on a soft, long finish.

The Montagne Nord cuvée from Hugues Godmé goes perfectly with grilled lobster or poultry supreme with mushroom cream.
